The George Sweet Room

The George Sweet room is located on the first floor and may be reserved by members/residents for small events or private parties of up to 35 people. Kitchen amenities are available, complete with refrigerator, stove, sink, microwave and island. Members may use this room any time there is not a private event scheduled and may access it 24/7 with their scan cards.

History Of This Room

This room is named for George Sweet, a 1959 graduate of North Central High School in Indiana. An entrepreneur who started Sweet & Company, Inc. and Brenwick Development Company, Inc. in 1976, his company built approximately 300 homes and 35 commercial buildings. Several homes won national awards for innovative thinking and design. Brenwick has developed more than 6,000 residential lots in 29 communities, the largest being the Village.

The Tom Huston Room

The Tom Huston room is also located on the first floor and may be reserved by members/residents for small events or private parties of up to 35 people. Kitchen amenities are available, complete with refrigerator, sink, microwave and island. (It does not have a stove). Members may use this room any time there is not a private event scheduled and may access it 24/7 with their scan cards.

History Of This Room

This room is named for Tom Huston who earned his political and science and law degrees from Indiana University. He was an associate counsel to Richard Nixon from 1969-1971. Most recently, he served on the board and executive committee of Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, Inc. He is listed in the Who’s Who of America, Best Lawyers in America and the Who’s Who in Indianapolis Commercial Real Estate.

The Gene Stratton-Porter Room

Located on the second floor, this room is ideal for small formal receptions or meetings seating 104, weddings up to 80, and cocktail style up to 150. Available for the general public to rent, events held here have an exclusive contract with Sahm’s Catering. History Of This Room

This room is named for American author, nature photographer, and naturalist Gene Stratton-Porter (1863-1924), from Wabash County, Indiana. In 1917, she urged legislative support for the conservation of Limberlost Swamp and other wetlands in Indiana. She was a silent film-era producer who founded her own production company in 1924. She also wrote several best-selling novels and columns for national magazines, such as McCall’s and Good Housekeeping.

The Hoagy Carmichael Ballroom

The ballroom is located on the third floor is ideal for formal receptions and events seating of 150, weddings of 120, and cocktail style up to 200 guests. Available for the general public to rent, events held in the Hoagy Carmichael Ballroom have an exclusive contract with Sahm’s Catering. History Of This Room

This room is named for American musician, composer, songwriter, actor and lawyer Hoagland Howard Carmichael (1899-1981). Carmichael was one of the most successful Tin Pan Alley songwriters of the 1930s and was among the first singer-songwriters in the age of mass media to utilize new communication technologies such as television, electronic microphones and sound recordings.
